War Horse
Watched ‘War Horse’ tonight. Obviously I cried constantly, because a) WW1 and b) horses. Horses and Dogs are my big weaknesses, and if they are in movies getting hurt then I will cry forever. (In real life, I go into a black out rage) I have to admit, however, that pretty much the entire movie, but especially the trench scenes, I kept thinking, ‘Oh God! That’s what Matthew...

Book 31 of 2011: The Paris Wife
I actually finished this before Christmas, and I’m now 3/4 of the way through ‘Death Comes to Pemberley”. It was decent. Not spectacular, but comforting to read. It’s a fictional account of Hadley’s relationship with Hemingway in Paris in the 20s. It seems pretty reasonable, accuracy wise, though I’m afraid they portray pretty much everyone in an unflattering...

Book a Week: Book 30 of 2011
“I am Half Sick of Shadows” by Alan Bradley. Probably my least favourite, so far, of the Flavia series. Not enough mystery solving and deduction! Too much just sort of fell into Flavia’s lap.  My plan is now: “Death At Pemberley” and “The Paris Wife”. I think I’ll start on “The Paris Wife” first, as I already have it.  I’m...

Book a Week 2011: Books 27, 28, 29
WOAH WOAH WOAH. I have not posted about my books in a while. And that caused me to lose track of how many books I’d actually read! I got so caught up in Hunger Games, and then I transitioned so smoothly into the Flavia De Luce books, so I have definitely read a lot.  I was a little hesitant about the Flavia series, which was recommended to me by a clerk at Book City, but I regret nothing...

Book 26 of 2011
Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins Ugh, the tears. I think Suzanne Collins can be up there with Jk Rowling and George R.R Martin for the sheer number of beloved characters brutally murdered.  Honestly, I fucking loved this series.  I pretty much cried throughout the entire last (two) chapter(s), just as a warning.
